The specialized Penal Court in the capital Sana’a began on Monday the hearing, under chairmanship of Judge Hilal Hamed Mahfal, for the trial of 57 accused in the Presidency Mosque bombing case. At the hearing, which was attended by lawyers of the defendants, and after the court found that there were nobody representing the victims, the Court’s Chief Justice announced his resignation for consideration of this case.

“The media outlets owned by some victims have been reporting since I was appointed to this court that the aim of my appointment is only to consider this case,” Judge Mahfal said, adding that this situation made him feel embarrassed to consider this case.
